Category description

Individual sites for dentist offices and practices are listed under the appropriate category in the Regional/ section of the Directory. Restorative dentistry, also known as operative dentistry, is concerned with the restoration of defects or caries in individual teeth. Cosmetic dentistry is purely aesthetic and involves bleaching, bonding, veneers, reshaping, orthodontics, or implants. Prosthetic dentistry includes implants. Pediatric dentistry includes all services defined in the 'general practice' category, for children. Orthodontics deals with problems in the alignment of teeth and jaws. Endodontics is concerned with the morphology, physiology and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues and root canal treatments. Periodontics is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. Oral surgery refers to extractions.
